An environmental impact assessment (EIA) is being conducted on the windfarm proposals and will be submitted with any planning application. The sections below present a summary of information gathered on the site to date to explain why the site is being proposed and indicates the issues the EIA will be addressing. The information is not intended to replace the vigorous and extensive EIA, but to provide some accessible information to the public on areas that may be of concern.
The Immediate Landscape The site itself is rough ground used for grazing sheep. The site is located between the disused Maerdy coal tip and the Mynydd Tynewydd forest. To the north of the site is the Lluest-wen reservoir and access road leading back to Maerdy. Both to the south and north is existing wooden pole overhead electrical line. Local features are shown on the plan below.

The surrounding man made features make integration of the windfarm in the landscape easier than in an area with no man made features. |
